Hi everyone. This weeks post will be the same as my other ones, which is explaining my week. So I hope you enjoy and here we go!
READING: In reading we finished Surfing Mr Petrovic and we are doing a prezi on it. I finished my prezi about a week or 2 ago, but it was a lot of fun reflecting on the book.
SPELLING: In spelling I haven’t done spelling this week because our school had Monday and Tuesday off because of Cup Day. I will start doing spelling again next week.
WRITING: In writing I just published a story about Time Travel. It was fun to write and I liked publishing it because I knew I had finished. I will start to write another story.
INQUIRY: For Inquiry I finished my presentation a few days ago and I actually presented it today (Friday). As I told you I am doing it on the Netherlands because my family is from there. I didn’t present Task B because no one needs to present Task B. I am glad it is over and done but I still wanted to present.
SPORT: In sport, well we have sport on a Monday and no none was here but we had basketball. We have a local basketball centre come to my school and teaches us basketball. One of my friends is a basket baller so she helped my friend and I. It was a lot of fun and I really like basketball, even though I’m a net baller, basketball is still a lot of fun.
ART: At the moment in art, we are making a city. We are drawing it on a paper and only colouring in a few of the building. There has to be 3 layers so it looks like there is a building behind another one and they have to be unusual. Like one of mine is a donut building. I started yesterday and finished yesterday.
Thank you guys so much for reading this weeks post. I really hope you guys had a good Cup Day and if any of you won the horse let me know in the comments. Bye guys!
Welcome back! Sorry I haven’t been blogging for a while but today I will be talking about everything I have been doing in class.
Reading: In class we have been reading the book ‘Surfing Mr. Petrovic.’ It is about a 11 year old boy, Tao Symonds and who is having trouble with his life. We have been doing book reviews and an online presentation about it. It is a wonderful book and has ups and downs. It’s very emotional, fun, and full of laughter.
Maths: In maths we have been doing angles. We did a pre-assessment just so the teachers know what we know about angles. The the teachers told us we were making angles. We got 2 kebab sticks and a straw. We cut the straw and put the kebab sticks in both ends. Then we could turn it so we could make different types of angles. It was a lot of fun.
Spelling: With spelling, we have been doing the same thing as usual which is learning new words. We do our excel and try and get 10/10. Today (Friday) we have our test a friend and we check each others spelling. Then, on Monday we will get new words.
Inquiry: In Inquiry, we have chosen a country and researched it. I chose Holland because my family is Dutch. We need to find out the 7 Natural Wonders of the World and continents and much more. We are going to start presenting in about a week.
Art: In art we have been doing activities on Halloween because it’s Halloween tomorrow. We have made skull pictures on The Day of the Dead and it is crazy! I finished mine yesterday and it is very colourful. Here is a picture of The Day of the Dead:
Thank you guys so much for reading today’s post. I will try and post every week, but if I don’t it’s because I don’t have the time. I would like to wish you guys a Happy Halloween and if any one of are going trick or treating, have tons of fun. Bye guys! 🙂
Hi everybody. Welcome back to my blog. This week’s post will be on our science expo that we had on Tuesday night.
The topic for inquiry was energy. We got into small groups and researched a topic we were interested in. My group investigated oil. We needed to have an experiment and a lot of detailed information. We had a plasma ball, a powerpoint, a smore, a video and another experiment. Here is some information that I learnt about oil :
- Oil has one of the highest energy densities which means that a small amount of oil can produce a large amount of energy.
- Crude oil is a smelly, yellow-to-black liquid and is usually found in
underground areas called reservoirs.
- Oil was formed from the remains of animals and plants that lived millions of years ago in a marine environment before the dinosaurs.
- Oil is burnt in turbines in power stations to produce extreme heat, which is used to create high-pressure steam.
- Oil is a non-renewable energy source.
Here is a picture of a picture of oil:
My group actually used this picture in our presentation.
Thank you for reading today’s post and I’ll see you n my next post. Bye 🙂
Hi everyone. This weeks post is going to be about my learning.
SPELLING : With spelling, we got new words like we do every week and we did our partner testing, LSCWC ( Look, Say, Cover , Write and Check ) and our excel.
MATHS : In Maths we are focusing on Decimals. We have learnt how to place decimals on a place value chart, add decimals and see which decimal is the highest.
INQUIRY : In Inquiry our focus is Energy. We are having an expo and we have spilt into groups and focus on an energy source. My group are doing Oil. Our question is ‘ What are the advantages and disadvantages of oil as an energy source. What re the by-products of oil ? ‘
READING : For reading our class is reading about water and how water works. I have learnt a lot about water as an energy source and it is very fascinating.
FOOTBALL : On Monday Jed Anderson and Grant Birchall (Hawthorn Players) came to our school to talk to us about staying healthy. We went outside and played games and practice hand balling, kicking and bouncing the ball. It was a lot of fun!
DRAMA : In Drama we are having a big school production on the Nut Cracker. We have rolls such as Clara, Prince, Isobel, Albert and Fred. I am a Sugar Plum Fairy dancer and the understudy for The Sugar Plum Fairy.
Thank you for reading today’s post and I will see you in my next post. Bye 🙂
Hi everybody. Today’s post will be about my week.
On Monday we had Michael, the Hawthorn Football Club schools program leader come to our school. He is in charge of the school program. He came to talk to us about staying healthy and getting enough sleep. We watched a video and they should us a lot of things. They showed us all the kinds of foods to eat like fruit, vegetables and try not to eat junk food all the time, try to eat it at special occasions.
They also talked to us about getting enough sleep. Kids should get about 12 hours of sleep a night. One of the most important things is to stay hydrated. You should drink about 8 glasses of water a day. After we learnt about staying healthy, we went outside to play a game that was really fun.
At the end of that we got given a diary. We have to record what we eat, how many glasses of water did we drink that day, what type of physical activity we did, how much time did we spend watching TV / playing computer games and how may hours of sleep did you get.
It was a great day and I learnt to try and eat more healthy and stay fit. Thank you for reading and I will see you in my next post. Bye 🙂
Hi everybody. Today’s post will be my learning week for week 3. I will be writing about our school Italian Day.
The day was so much fun. I loved everyone’s costumes and their enthusiasm. We spilt up into groups and I was in the Emperors group. The first activity I had was the puppets. We got to make puppets and they were soliders. It was quite tricky to put the split pins in, but I got it.
The second activity I did was the games. We played games and my favourite was bochee. We had a chose and we all just mucked around playing our games. At the end of that activity, I ended up playing soccer with one of my friends.
The third activity was mosaics. We got to create our own mosaics and I made a mosaic that said my name on it. After that activity it was pizza time! I don’t like pizza so I packed my own lunch. Then we got to have some gelati or a soft severe.
Our last activity was making the Roman coins. We put a profile of ourselves, our name and date and then on the other side we put something we were proud of because that is what the Roman people did. It was a lot of fun.
Overall it was a spectacular day! I had lots of fun and learnt more about Italian. Thank you for reading this post. I hope you enjoyed it. Bye 🙂
Hi everybody. Today’s post is going to be my learning week for week 2.
On Monday we did some training for athletics day. We had a chose to try out for many things but on Monday we only did long jump and triple jump. I tried out for long jump but not triple jump.
On Tuesday the whole school had a lesson with a girl called Catherine. Catherine runs a program called Building Better Playgrounds. Catherine talked to us about bully and standing up for one another. She also told us not to be a bystander and if you do see someone being bullied, tell someone.
On Wednesday the 5/6’s went to an Emmaus Production called Beauty and the Beast. It was beautiful and sad in some bits. The singing was lovely and their acting was terrific. I think a lot of people liked Belle but my favourite character was Luminaire. He was very funny.
On Thursday two boys came to our school. Their names were Adam and Shaun. They were training to be an AFL coach. They taught us all bout short kicking, bouncing the ball and we even had a rely and the end. At the start we played a warm up game. I can’t remember the name of the game but it was very fun.
On Friday we just did some more blogging.
Thank you for reading todays post. I hope you enjoyed it and I will see you in my next post. Bye 🙂
Hi everybody. This post is going to be about what I learnt during the week. During the week we did lots of things. Here is what we did during the week:
On Monday we talked about Energy Sources. I learnt about Coal. Coal starts off as plant matter at the bottom of water. It is eventually covered and deeply buried by matters that settles to the bottom of a liquid where over time metamorphosis (a change in form) takes place. Coal is the world’s largest source of energy for thke production of electricity. Coal is the fuel for around 77% of Australia’s electricity.
On Tuesday we talked about fractions of a collection.
e.g. 2/8 of 16= ( 16 divided by 8 ( denominator )= 2 ) x 2 ( numerator )= 4
During reading, we were in groups and my grouped talked about Criminals ride the Internet. The book was about hackers who get your personal information. On the internet if you give away any personal information someone could track you and find out who you are. Be very careful on the internet.
On thursday we made an optical illusion with out hand. It made it look 3D and it is not very hard to make. Here is the link of how to make it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhUbtH01mAY&feature=youtu.be
On Friday we just did some more blogging.
Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it and I will see you in my next post. Bye 🙂
Hi everybody, Today’s post is week 9 and I know I have already done week 10 because it wouldn’t let me look at week 9’s challenge but now I can do it. Today I will be finding information about Polar Bears.
- The World Conservation Union estimates that there are between 20,000-25,000 polar bears in the world.
- Polar bears are only found natural habitat is the Arctic.
- These are the areas of where polar bears can find the greatest number of seals.
- Polar bears have black skin and although their fur appears white, it is actually transparent.
- Polar bears have no natural predaters. Polar bears are at the top of the food chain. However, babies are severly threatened by a number of predators.
- You will find that the natural habitat for a polar bear is in the very cold areas of the world.
- Polar bears have 42 teeth.
Did you know?
Polar bears have black skin to absorb heat and white fur to blend in with their environment.
Thank you for reading my post today. I hope you have learnt something about polar bears and have a great day:)
Hi everybody. Today, I am going to evaluate my own blog and evaluate the actual blogging challenge.
To start off, I will evaluate my own blog first. I very proud of my blog. I’m happy with with my posts and all the comments I have received (thanks everyone for your comments!). Even though I didn’t get to do one challenge, I still had fun writing my posts and I learnt a lot. I would give my blog a 10/10
Now I will evaluate the actual blogging challenge. With the blogging challenge, most of the challenges were easy but one was challenging. It was fun seeing what I had to do and especially week 4: Let’s join globally. I have had a lot of people visit my blog and I love checking out other people’s blogs.
Thank you reading my post today. I hope you enjoyed it and have a great day:)
